The 35-year-old was taken to Warrnambool Base Hospital following the 8.30pm accident and then air-lifted early this morning to The Alfred in a critical condition.
His pillion passenger, a 22-year-old Bookaar man, sustained minor injuries in the crash which occurred along the Terang-Cobden Road at Cobrico.
Police said sun glare had been ruled out as a factor, despite it being sunset at the time.
Investigations are continuing.
