On top of six sessions on Warrnambool’s Civic Green over summer, F Project has been asked to run additional similar “battles” between artists for other organisations.
A duel between acclaimed local artists Sid Sprague and Harley Manifold will be held on the green on January 16 as part of a Deakin University open day, while an Arts On The Grass-style event will also take place as part of the city council’s laneway rejuvenation on January 11.
Despite the overcast weather, yesterday’s session still attracted more than 50 people over the two hours to watch south-west artists Justin Perkins and Matthew Clarke create a painting each.
As an added bonus, the audience witnessed the triumphant return of Port Fairy band Gramps, who performed songs from their 1998 debut — including their Triple J Unearthed winning track Glitter-Eyed Girl — as well as their belated follow-up album, which was launched to a packed house at The Loft in Warrnambool last night.
