The Chevrolet Silverado was parked at the back of a family home in Nine Mile Creek Road when it caught fire about 11.30am.
Koroit fire brigade lieutenant Chris Alsop said a man came out of the house, noticed the ute on fire and called emergency services.
"It was well alight when we got there," Mr Alsop said. "There were flames coming out the windows and from under the bonnet."
Country Fire Authority members who were first on the scene in the Koroit pumper tackled the blaze inside the vehicle while the crew from the Koroit tanker donned breathing apparatus before opening the bonnet and extinguishing the engine fire.
The Warrnambool brigade also attended the incident.
Mr Alsop said police were called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
The vehicle, believed to be valued at about $20,000, is a write-off.
