Portland driver charged after crash

A PORTLAND P-plater has been charged with drink driving after a single vehicle accident early this morning.

Portland police Sergeant Gavin Slade said officers were called to the accident near the intersection of Maderia Packet Road and Henty Highway at 2am.

He said a 21-year-old man recorded a positive preliminary breath test and later an evidentiary breath test of .09.

The P-plater is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic offences. He will appear in the Portland Magistrates Court on a date to be fixed.

The man's vehicle suffered substantial damage.
