The 17-year-old male was taken to the Warrnambool police station after staff reported the assault about 11.45am.
Police said the offender punched a Port Fairy teenager several times before they were separated.
The victim, who sustained no injuries, chose not to press charges and the offender received a penalty notice for riotous behaviour. According to police, the two teens did not know each other, but had a chance encounter on the bus yesterday morning that led to an argument.
Several police cars attended during the take-away restaurant’s peak lunch hour, blocking traffic through the car park while witnesses were interviewed and the offender handcuffed.
