The 8.6-kilometre time trial competition for eights attracted 184 crews.
Four Warrnambool rowers — Caral Sudhulz, Susan Finnigan, Maryanne Purcell and Jo Bone — and a coxswain Debbie Fitzgibbon helped form a composite crew with four Wentworth rowers.
They competed in the masters A-C section.
“We were last on the grid and did not overtake any crews, ending 1.9 seconds behind the next crew,” Finnigan said.
“The start order is according to expected outcome. Previously competing crews are given a better position etc, so essentially we have done the trial run and will be ready for next year.
“Of course it’s tricky to overtake — there are corners, bridges.
“Now we know the course, we can develop a race plan.”
