Grandparents Ian and Judy Pyke, of Colac, are in the south-west for the second leg of their Escape2 Adventure.
The pair, known as Team Nomad, are enjoying attractions along the Great Ocean Road and Warrnambool.
The competition, organised by the Escape2 Holiday Parks and Resorts chain, has teams in three states pitted against each other in a series of challenges over three weeks for the chance to win $20,000.
Mr and Mrs Pyke are exploring Victoria while Team Trekker is taking on Queensland and Team Tribe is in New South Wales.
The teams compete in a variety of tasks and challenges, accumulating points.
Travelling with pet golden retriever Darcy, the Pykes spent their first week in Portland Bay Holiday Park before arriving in Port Campbell last Sunday.
They will head north-east to Bright this Sunday.
Mrs Pyke said they were making the most of the adventure. Their travels are updated via Facebook, blogs and YouTube videos with the aim of promoting the holiday parks, local regions and attractions.
“To have a week to explore and enjoy the areas has been amazing,” she said.
“Our blog is written once a week talking about what we have explored and what would be worth seeing and it’s all followed really closely on Facebook which is a great way to get people involved.”
Mr Pyke said it helped getting a different perspective of the destinations.
The self-confessed outdoor adventurers won last week’s challenge, but lucked out this week when teams were asked to write and perform a theme song for Escape2 Adventure.
“You have no idea of the weekly challenge until you get there,” Mr Pyke said.
“For our first challenge in Portland we had two hours and $20 to make something that represented either ourselves or where we were.”
The weekly winner of the challenge gains a benefit that will assist them in the final challenge at the Gold Coast on November 29.
