The Rotary Club of Warrnambool East recognised four first-year apprentices for their achievements last Thursday.
Club president Andy Graham said the financial prizes were designed to provide recognition, support and encouragement to the students at the start of their careers.
Now in its 10th year supporting the awards, the club is proud of the quality produced by the apprentices in their various trades, he said.
“The standard of the nominees has always been excellent and it has been a very rewarding project,” Mr Graham said.
CEO of South West TAFE Peter Heilbuth said the support of the Rotary club was invaluable in recognising young people seeking to improve their qualifications and skills.
“It’s a great opportunity to recognise the achievements of our students — particularly those who represent our institute, their vocation and the broader community in such a positive fashion,” Mr Heilbuth said.
Recipients were automotive mechanical apprentice Brock Neal, carpentry apprentice Bronte McCann, hairdressing apprentice Louise Marchman and electrical apprentice Daniel Sinnott. Ms Marchman, 19, from Camperdown, said the award would help her future endeavours and will “look great on her resume”.
“It will definitely help me financially with purchasing tools and equipment for my apprenticeship,” Ms Marchman said.
Mr McCann, 22, from Port Campbell, said he was stoked to win the award.
“It’s good to get recognition for putting in all the hard work,” Mr McCann said.
The awards were presented during a dinner at the Warrnambool Football Club.
