WARRNAMBOOL and District Drag Racing Association president Tony Frost expects his club to make a statement on the national stage.
Six WDDRA racers will compete at the national championships in Sydney this weekend.
Frost is entered in the modified bikes class, Glenn Wooster in the pro-bikes section, Chris King in super street, Andrew Johnston and Steve Griffin in super sedan and Geoff Kelly in competition.
Frost said the big number reflected the sport’s growing popularity in the south-west.
He was confident WDDRA would perform strongly at Western Sydney International Dragway.
“We’ve all got fair chances in all classes,” he said.
“All the boys are really consistent. We all have reliable cars and bikes and are all doing a fair bit of racing.”
Frost said racers would do three qualifiers today with eliminations tomorrow and Sunday.
“We are keen to do well up here and represent Warrnambool,” he said.
Frost, who arrived in Sydney yesterday, said the national championships had attracted bumper entries.
