A SEARCH near Nelson has failed to locate missing 34-year-old Mount Gambier man Gordon Tearonui Hamm.
A Portland police spokesman said a burnt-out Mitsubishi Pajero four-wheel-drive had been taken to Melbourne for forensic testing.
Ten State Emergency Service volunteers and about 10 detectives from Portland, Mount Gambier and the homicide squad were involved in yesterday’s search in bushland at Rennick, 15 kilometres north of Nelson. The activity was sparked after police found the four-wheel-drive on Tuesday.
Police believe Mr Hamm was abducted at Nelson about 4am on Wednesday, July 17, and possibly killed.
He was last seen on a bridge at the intersection of Portland-Nelson Road and Leake Street in Nelson after a car he was a passenger in was stopped by two four-wheel-drives.
Anyone with any information about Mr Hamm’s disappearance should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
