CRIME scene police officers are on the way to a firearm burglary at Gellibrand.
Detective Senior Constable Chris Potter, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said two firearms were stolen at about 4am on Monday morning from a rural property on the Colac-Lavers Hill Road.
He said a gun safe was jemmied from a wall it was bolted onto and completely removed.
The farmer did not realise the guns were stolen until later in the day and reported the theft to police last night.
The theft continues the spate of gun heists plaguing south-west rural properties during the past couple of years that has greatly concerned police.
Anyone with information about the firearm theft is requested to contact Colac police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
