FOR many years, Cr Peter Hulin has consistently been calling for safety measures, namely zebra crossings to be installed throughout our city.
Now as a councillor he continues his belief in pedestrian safety and the many and varied benefits for our city.
As the elections are to be soon upon us, mayor Jacinta Ermacora decides to at last make herself relevant by stealing Cr Hulin’s ideas and attempting to make them her own.
In Saturday’s Standard July 28, she proclaims the virtues of zebra crossings on Viaduct Road but then on Monday at a council meeting along with Cr Harris, Cr Askew and Cr Fawcett, voted against installing a crossing which would allow safe passage for children to toilets opposite the skate park with justification and logic only known to themselves.
As a ratepayer and citizen of Warrnambool I am utterly sick of the “Rubber Stampers” voting not on the merit of issue at hand but clearly against Cr Hulin and Cr Lowe simply because they obviously have absolutely no original ideas themselves.
The election cannot come soon enough for me and I am guessing the rest of our community, so we can all vote in a council which is not built on egos but on professionalism and a deep caring and servitude for our city and citizens.
