A REGIONAL produce dinner at Dunkeld’s acclaimed Royal Mail Hotel will kick off the Discover Dunkeld festival a week early.
The feast will also provide an opportunity to meet some of the people behind the amazing food on the award-winning restaurant’s menu.
The fourth annual Grampians Harvest Dinner will take place on October 12 and serve as the launch of Dunkeld’s festival, which happens on October 19-20.
The dinner celebrates produce from western Victoria, including eggs, pork, beef, olives, sheep’s cheese and yoghurt, wine and beer.
The people behind that local produce will be at the dinner to chat with diners and “share their story”, Royal Mail sales and marketing manager Marc Horner said.
Most of the featured producers will also have stalls at the Discover Dunkeld market the following weekend.
Guests at the October 12 dinner get a chance to meet the hotel’s new head chef Robin Wickens, who took over in early September.
