A young mother has been assaulted in broad daylight in the Warrnambool CBD.
Police are desperate for information from the community on the attack.
The 16-year-old girl was walking with her twin babies in a pram when she was attacked in a laneway off Liebig Street, between Lava and Koroit streets, just before noon on Wednesday.
Senior Constable Adrian Dolman said the girl was grabbed from behind and knocked to the ground by a male offender.
He said the man kicked the woman twice while she was on the ground and stole her wallet.
Senior Constable Dolman said the woman was shaken up by the incident.
“She clearly had concerns for her two children,” he said.
“She was obviously pretty emotional after it.”
Senior Constable Dolman said two males and a female were there during the assault but were not directly linked to the incident.
He said police inquires were continuing and anyone who witnessed the assault should contact Warrnambool police on 5560 1333.
