INVESTIGATORS yesterday began interviewing witnesses and others associated with a fatal plane crash this week at Hamilton.
Three experts from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in Canberra have examined the crash scene about six kilometres north of Hamilton airport where a 20-year-old Sydney man died Monday night.
He had been conducting solo flights in take-off and landing manoeuvres gaining experience towards achieving a commercial licence.
The single-engine Cessna dived into a paddock and burst into flames.
A spokesman for the bureau said investigators would continue their work in Hamilton today before returning to their Canberra headquarters where an in-depth report will be prepared.
It is understood they will take some crash debris for closer examination.
