A WOMAN who twice stole from her Warrnambool employer has been fined $1500.
Susanne Jane King, 33, of Younger Street, Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court yesterday to theft.
The offending also breached a community corrections order previously imposed after she stole mobile telephones in the course of her employment.
Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt said when King was in court during February last year she would have been told that theft from an employer was more serious than opportunistic theft.
He said employers needed to be able to trust employees and King had now twice breached that trust.
“Your employer knew of your record and kept you on, but when the opportunity appeared to take money you did. The $400 you stole is not an insignificant sum,” he said.
King was convicted and fined $1000 for the theft and $500 for breaching her corrections order.
