DAIRY farmers have been warned about a series of burglaries in the Colac region committed while workers are milking cows.
Detective Senior Constable Jonas Todd of the Colac police crime investigation unit said a series of break-ins had occurred in the Colac district, particularly around Pirron Yallock and Carpendeit.
“The offender is targeting dairy farm sharefarmers’ houses while people are away from their homes milking,” he said.
“There have been burglaries at more than one premises and items have been taken from multiple rooms.” He said there had been several reports of farm thefts since last Thursday.
Detective Senior Constable Todd requested that people living in rural areas keep an eye out for unusual vehicles.
