WARRNAMBOOL’S Norton Ford found a very literal way to launch a funding drive for Peter’s Project.
The civic green became a makeshift car yard two weeks ago and passing petrol heads got a chance to take the polished vehicles for a spin — at a price.
“We charged about $50 for people to take them for a test drive,” dealer principal Marcus Norton said.
“We raised about $3500 and that included a sausage sizzle.
“We had approximately 50 drivers,” Mr Norton said yesterday
‘‘It was all for a good cause and that’s what it’s all about.”
Peter’s Project founder Vicki Jellie said: “$3500 is great and its going on to the growing total.
“I’m very appreciative. It’s a great fund-raiser,” she said.
Just over $1.2 million has been raised towards the Target $5 million for the South West Integrated Cancer Care Centre.
Ms Jellie said she had received thousands of dollars in donations since opening the Peter’s Project office at the National Australia Bank on Koroit Street.
