A MURAL of all that is important to the people of Hawkesdale has been revealed.
The Moyne Shire Youth Council initiative was made by students from Hawkesdale P-12 College.
Moyne Shire Youth Council’s Hawkesdale representative Georgia Huglin said the project had taken about three years and they were delighted with the end result.
“The school has contributed a lot,” Ms Huglin said this week.
She said the design was based on what represented Hawkesdale.
She said one of the winning entries was done by Trish Henning who passed away earlier this year and a daffodil was incorporated into the mural in her memory.
The mural was unveiled this week and Moyne council youth development officer Geraldine Edar-Ralph said Warrnambool artist Beckey Neville had assisted with the project.
She said they received about 100 entries and the mosaic mural was a combination of three entries.
“All grades at the school contributed,” she said.
Ms Edar-Ralph said the design had incorporated sheep, cows, hay bales and wind farms.
She said it was important there was a strong focus on livestock and the environment.
“It’s certainly combining everything that Hawkesdale is,” Ms Edar-Ralph said.
“The whole community had an input.
“We’re very pleased with the outcome.”
