SOME drinkers might be thinking they’ve had a bit too much when a pink plastic pig and staff with pink hair add a bit of colour to the Whalers Hotel on Friday night.
But it’s all for a sobering cause to raise money for families of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Organisers hope to raise thousands of dollars for the Very Special Kids foundation, which was established in 1985 to provide counselling and support for families.
The Warrnambool hotel on Liebig Street organised this week’s fund-raiser as part of its community assistance program.
Events will run from 5pm to 9pm and include a $300 hamper raffle, a competition to pick the first goalkicker in the AFL Friday night finals clash, children’s colouring and face painting.
Three members of the foundation’s piggy trail team will be on hand to host activities and will park their truck and Big Pink Pig outside the venue.
“We’ll have staff dressed in pink and even a pink dessert on the menu,” Whalers functions co-ordinator Vanessa Thornton said.
“Very Special Kids is a cause well worth supporting.
“We appreciate the donations of hamper items from Darriwill Farm.”
