WORKERS in the region have been offered a new way to donate to Peter’s Project.
The Work Place Giving program will allow people to nominate an amount which their employer will deduct from their regular pay and forward on to Peter’s Project.
Jarrod Lewis, from the Peter’s Project business team, said the program would make it easy for everyone to contribute to a cancer centre for the south-west.
Mr Lewis has a special connection to the cause and said everyone in the community wanted to support the project.
“I’ve known Vicki and Peter since I used to milk cows for Peter when I was at uni,” he said.
“It’s a great cause. People want to do their bit for Peter’s Project.
“Everyone has been touched by cancer by either their friends or family.”
Mr Lewis said the program came about after people coming forward asking how they could contribute.
“A lot of people can’t afford to make big contributions but small amounts do add up,” he said.
He said so far the support for the project had been fantastic.
“Vicki Jellie is receiving calls daily with people wanting to fund-raise,” he said.
“There has been a huge response, from people who want to put their pocket money towards it to big business donating.
“We’re concentrating on a 12-month period to get this done and dusted.”
