LATEST: WARRNAMBOOL'S Marc Leishman is well placed to extend his involvement in the US PGA Tour playoffs after carding a third-round 64 this morning in Norton, Massachusetts.
Leishman's seven-under par round catapulted him up the leaderboard at the $US8 million Deutsche Bank Championship.
The bogey-free round has him sitting in a tie for ninth with one round remaining. It followed rounds of 70 and 67 in the opening two rounds.
He started the week 76th in the playoff standings but only the top 70 after tomorrow make it through to the penultimate playoff event next week.
But after today's round, if he maintains his position tomorrow, he is projected to climb to 54 in the playoffs, earning a start next week in the BMW Championship.
Spain's Sergio Garcia holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the event at TPC Boston, Massachusetts.
Like Leishman, Garcia started the event outside the top 50, needing a good performance to win a spot in the field next week.
