ISAAC Jones' first international swimming competition is unlikely to be his last.
The Warrnambool teenager completed an impressive international debut at the world junior championships in Dubai yesterday.
Jones, who entered the championships as the world's number nine, was seventh in the final of the 200m butterfly.
His time of two minutes .20 seconds, was 0.04 of a second outside his qualifying time in the heats, where he also had the seventh fastest time.
Just making the eight-swimmer final was a major victory for the 18-year-old.
The performance came after he helped Australia to a silver medal in the 4x200m freestyle relay on Friday morning.
