THE early morning rail service from Warrnambool to Melbourne was delayed by an hour this morning after the train struck a kangaroo.
A V/Line spokesman said the train hit the animal near Terang.
The driver inspected the train when it reached the Camperdown station, but was unable to find any evidence of what he had hit and became fearful it may have been a person.
V/Line decided to send a track gang to check the section of track between Camperdown and Terang.
The train was delayed at the station until the gang advised that they had found a dead kangaroo beside the track.
