MANY men already have a shed, but according to Terang’s Roger Primmer that’s no reason not to get involved in another one.
It has been a long road, but Terang’s Men’s Shed, at the rear of Cooinda, was finally opened last Friday by member for Polwarth Terry Mulder.
Mr Primmer, who is the project chairman, said the reason for the meeting space was simple — men’s health.
“People say all the time they’ve got a shed of their own,” he said. “We’ve all got a shed of our own. That’s not the point.
“I suppose we’ve all got problems. When we do sit around talking men do open up.
“It’s mainly about getting men together and if they want to talk they can.
“At the opening we had a gentleman who when he first came wouldn’t have said boo.
“Today he was yakking away and put his hand up to speak.
“We’ve had men come from Simpson and Cobden.”
The shed has received financial grants from the state government and philanthropic groups.
Mr Primmer said new members were more than welcome.
So far there are about 17 members, made up of men and women, and they meet every Thursday from 10am.
