But yesterday afternoon students at Timboon P-12 School had a chance to see the classical blood feud unfold on the school hall floor — albeit a fun-sized, abridged version. 

Bell Shakespeare company has been running the performances “out of a suitcase” for country schools throughout Australia. 

Actor Janine Watson said the group of four performers played out Macbeth: Undone and Such Sweet Sorrow — a condensed version of Romeo and Juliet. 

“We’ve come out to Timboon. It’s a great chance to show the kids what they normally wouldn’t get to see,” she said. 

Key scenes, including the meeting of the lovers at a party and the death of Mercutio, remained in the compacted tragedy. 

“The whole concept behind the play is that you have four people who put it on with props from a box.”
