The Search2Retain team member was part of a six man breakaway at the mid-point of the race which held a 20 second lead on the rest of the peloton. 

In the final laps, Bayly powered to the front, taking an 11 second lead over Racing Kangaroo's Daniel Fitter, who tried desperately to bridge the gap. 

But Bayly had it under control and sprinted for the finish line, completing the 40km circuit of Commercial Road, North Street, Black Street and Nine Mile Creek Road in 57 minutes and 48 minutes. 

Yellow jersey holder Sam Horgan finished the criterium in 12th place, 42 seconds behind Bayly. 

Ahead of this afternoon's road race, Horgan still holds the leaders jersey by one minute and three seconds. He is looking unbeatable as the tour enters its final two stages. 

Budget Forklift's Jesse Kerrison remains in the sprinters jersey on 35- points, nine points ahead of African Wildlife Safari's Darcy Woolley. 

GPM Data's Scott Law has claimed the criterium jersey for the 2013 tour after previous holder and tour defending champion Anthony Giacoppo was forced to withdraw due to illness. 

The stage eight 104.3 kilometer road race from Koroit to Peterborough is now underway. 

The tour wraps up tomorrow with a 93.6 kilometre road race around Camperdown's Lakes and Craters precinct.
