A variety of novel presentations, which included the chance to dress up as science-fiction and fantasy characters on Friday, were part of the school’s lead-up to National Science Week this week.
The science promotion included a family science night on Thursday that attracted more than 160 people, who enjoyed the chance to partake in kitchen experiments, such as making slime out of cornflour, and edible science — making “whizz fizz”.
On the musical side they made whistles and learnt about soundwaves, while a popular attraction was a trip inside a portable Cosmodome planetarium to learn about the universe.
The inflatable Cosmodome was erected in the school’s multi-purpose hall and its dark interior, with galaxies projected on the dome’s roof, captivated pupils.
Teacher Nicole Cuzens said the fun was part of the school’s focus on science this term.
