Nicole, from Killarney, met Romanian Cristian Gaescu while they were working together in Perth four years ago. The couple married in Koroit on March 9 this year and included their own customs and sentimental items into their day.
The bride wore an ivory off the shoulder gown, made by Mary Andronis, of Sassi by Andronis, comprising silk, satin and French corded lace. It had a lace bodice and sleeves, an antique brooch, box pleated skirt and a train with scalloped edging. The men wore black three piece suits and black fedora hats.
Nicole made stunning brooch bouquets for herself and the bride and groom's mothers.
Nicole's bouquet contained precious antique brooches, cufflinks and buttons from her grandparents and family members. It featured lace from her grandmother's wedding dress and other much-loved pieces from close friends and family.
Father Bill van de Camp married the couple at Infant Jesus Church in Koroit and the couple included a traditional Romanian blessing into the ceremony which was read in English and Romanian by their mothers Dympna Wallis and Cristina Nelson.
Nicole walked down the aisle to Roisin Dubh played on a tin flute and violin and the style of music represented Nicole's Irish heritage and Cristian's Romanian heritage.
"The whole day was so special. The ninth of March was my nanna Connie Lane's birthday. She was married in the same church in 1935. I carried her photo and the lace from her wedding dress in my bouquet. My mum sewed two of nanna's wedding dress buttons on to my dress. Cristian wore his grandfather's tie from Romania. We had miniature hats sent out from Romania and, as is the tradition, these were given to guests at the church by our mothers," Nicole said.
