A 40-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded to appear in court today charged with arson after a Portland district rural house was burnt on Saturday night.
The fibro-cement house on a remote rural property at Milltown was extensively damaged.
Four occupants, including a child, had to find alternative accommodation after fleeing the property. Fire brigades from Milltown, Heywood and Myamyn turned out to bring the blaze under control.
It is believed the fire started about 9.40pm and took about 30 minutes to control.
Meanwhile, Warrnambool police used capsicum spray to break up a fight in the CBD nightclub precinct early yesterday about 2.30am.
