A WARRNAMBOOL man was killed after being run over by a car in an early-morning incident in a suburban street yesterday.
The 40-year-old man was found dead shortly after midnight yesterday outside a in the driveway of a Aitkins Road residence.
The exact circumstances of his death remained unclear last night.
Members of the Major Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene yesterday and a police media liaison spokeswoman said a report would be prepared for the coroner.
Police told The Standard the man was found lying in a driveway when officers arrived at the west Warrnambool address.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said paramedics received a call to the incident about 12.20am.
He said the man had sustained multiple trauma injuries.
Paramedics unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate the man, who died at the scene.
“Investigators believe the man was lying down on the driveway when a car drove on to the property and ran over the top of him,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.
A 38-year-old Warrnambool woman was later interviewed by police and was last night released pending summons.
