A DUNKELD couple who awoke to find their lounge room on fire were lucky to escape as their home was totally destroyed in the blaze early this morning.
Hamilton police Sergeant Liam Gardner said the alarm was raised at 2.45am this morning after the male resident discovered the lounge room of his Martin Street home was on fire.
"The resident has found the lounge room alight, raised the alarm and he and his partner were able to evacuate. The home was completely engulfed in minutes," he said.
"Country Fire Authority investigators are looking into the cause but it is not believed to be suspicious at this time," he said.
