A MAN has suffered head and leg injuries and is in a critical condition after a crash on the Glenelg Highway.
The highway has now been re-opened after initially being closed in both directions, about two kilometres west of Lake Bolac, after a vehicle collided with a tree.
The man, aged in his 60s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was trapped in his car for over an hour.
MICA paramedics are currently working to stabilise the man before he is flown by air ambulance to the Alfred Hospital.
Emergency services, including police, ambulance, State Emergency Service and the Country Fore Authority have attended the scene.
Paramedics were called to the crash at 7.20am.
Conditions were made more dangerous due to the heavy fog in the area and police were contacting VicRoads to make motorists aware of the situation.
