THE Falls Festival turns 20 in Lorne this New Year's Eve and reaches double figures at Marion Bay in Tasmania.
Unable to keep the festivities under wraps any longer - they're promising "celebrations grander than the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee" - the Falls team have made their first line-up announcement.
While the full line-up will hold more than 80 names, the first cabs off the rank are summery American duos Beach House and Best Coast, the multi-ARIA-winning Boy & Bear, '90s rap icon Coolio (y'all remember Gangsta's Paradise?), dub step favourite SBTRKT, British indie stars-on-the-rise The Vaccines, and finally, a band regularly proclaimed as being one of the greatest live acts on the planet... The Flaming Lips.
As an added bonus, The Falls Music & Arts Festival (that's its full name) has roped in Sampology to present a special "Falls Anniversary Live AV Show" that promises to mash-up the history of Falls into one totally smoking audio-visual playlist mashup extravaganza.
Don't forget - Lorne's Falls is 18+ and runs from Dec 28–Jan 1, Marion Bay's is all ages and runs from Dec 29-Jan 1. To be in the ballot for a ticket, head to www.fallsfestival.com and sign up before midnight on Thursday, August 2.
