OWNERS of champion mare Black Caviar have declined an invitation from the Warrnambool Racing Club (WRC) for the undefeated six-year-old to make a guest appearance at next week’s carnival.

Stephen Silk, a spokesman for Black Caviar’s owners, said a trip to the carnival was discussed by the owners but they decided not to take up the offer.
“The request from the Warrnambool Racing Club had been considered by the owners and they are thankful of the offer but they have decided to let Black Caviar have a well-earned rest and spell,” Mr Silk said.
“The owners hope the racing club and the public can appreciate the situation which they have been put in since the mighty mare was retired last week.”
Black Caviar won 25 consecutive races during her career including the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
WRC chief executive officer John Green said the club understood the decision.
Black Caviar may be missing from the carnival but 1992 Melbourne Cup winner Subzero will lead the runners out for the $200,000 Warrnambool Cup next Thursday with retired jockey Neville Wilson in the saddle.
Wilson, who rode more than 2000 winners during his career, said he was delighted to ride the 24-year-old grey champion.
Subzero will visit schools and nursing homes during his week in Warrnambool.
