WHEN the WUG meets the WAG, fun is sure to happen.
And a good time is assured tomorrow afternoon when members of the Warrnambool Ukulele Group (WUG) play at the Warrnambool Art Gallery (WAG).
WUG spokeswoman Merran Koren said the group had been a big hit since it began about August last year.
It has close to 90 members and up to 50 gather on Monday nights at the Royal Hotel’s bistro to rehearse.
Ms Koren said playing the small four-stringed guitar was more about having fun than striving for excellence.
“But we do have some excellent players,” she said.
She joked that a big attraction of such a big band for novice players was that it was an easy instrument to fake if they lost their way.
“You can do some pretending with a group.”
Ms Koren said tomorrow’s free performance from 2pm-3pm would feature some “old favourites” which people would be encouraged to sing along to as well as some solo performances.
An afternoon tea will be provided by the Friends of the Gallery. A gold coin donation will be appreciated.
“It will be a pleasant Sunday afternoon,” Ms Koren said.
