Fifty years of high ol' times at Derrinallum

MEMORIES and a few laughs will be shared when more than 300 people gather in Derrinallum to celebrate 50 years at the Derrinallum High School site.

Organiser Narelle Uren said 330 people had confirmed they were attending the celebration but more were welcome.

“We’re catering for 500,” she said. “People can RSVP right up until the day. The more the merrier.

“Everything is going well. We’re hoping the weather will be fine. There will be lots of kids’ activities.”

Tomorrow there will be an official opening at 11am which will include tours of the school, memorabilia and children’s activities. There will also be lunch and afternoon tea available.

Tomorrow night there will be a reunion supper dance at the Derrinallum Hall from 7.30pm.

Building began on the high school in 1962 and it was officially opened in 1963. It later merged with the primary school to become the P-12 college.

Anyone seeking information should contact Ms Uren on 0400 521 721.
