Granny cops abuse from Warrnambool grandson

A grandson who abused and frightened his 80-year-old grandmother in breach of an intervention order is being assessed for a justice plan.

Sam Kinna, 25, of Balmoral Road,  Warrnambool, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to intimidating conduct which beached an intervention order.

Police alleged that at 2pm on August 11 Kinna was driving in a car with his grandmother along McGregors Road.

He verbally abused her, the car stopped and the elderly woman got out in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Kinna grabbed her arm and continued to abuse her.

Spit landed on her during the tirade.

An intervention order was put in place on July 20.

Defence counsel Patrick McComish requested his client receive a CCO.

Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt questioned whether Kinna would be able to successfully comply with a CCO but had him assessed.

Office of corrections workers suggested Kinna be assessed for a justice plan.

An assessment is expected to take six weeks so sentencing has been adjourned until April 16.
