Jilted lover fined for nasty assault in Warrnambool

A JILTED lover who attacked her former partner after he formed a new relationship has been fined $500.

Elka Schultz, 26, of Daltons Road, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to recklessly causing injury and was fined $500 without a conviction being imposed.

Schultz and the victim had been in a relationship for 11 months.

Police alleged that at 11am on September 24 last year Schultz attended at her then ex-partner’s home but she was not allowed in as his new girlfriend was in bed.She left, circled the block, became angry and returned to the home.

Schultz pushed her way inside the home and a verbal confrontation ,which turned physical, with her ex-partner erupted.

She tried to get to the new girlfriend but was stopped and she bit, scratched and pushed her former partner, aggravating his old back injury. Schultz then barricaded herself in a room and police had to force their way in to arrest her.

Defence counsel Ara Blacker said her client was emotionally volatile, impulsive and realised she had problems with anger after suffering an acquired brain injury in a car accident when she was a child.
