A knife was allegedly pulled when two young men were caught attempting to break into a car at a Warrnambool hotel yesterday.
Emergency services were called about 11.05am over the alleged confrontation in the car park at the rear of the hotel.
Cally Hotel publican Damian Gleeson, who called police, said he understood that two young men were attempting to break into a car when a hotel patron saw their activities and tried to intervene.
“He tried to stop it and my understanding is that there was a knife drawn and a rock thrown at the man which caused a cut to the back of his head,” he said.
“The man is OK.
“There was security camera surveillance footage of the two men which is now in the hands of the police.
“Police officers were here in two minutes.
“They were sensational and pretty confident of catching up with the two men seen in the footage.”
It is understood that two young men were late yesterday being interviewed by Warrnambool police crime investigation unit detectives.
