A SIGNIFICANT injury suffered by an alleged offender has led Hamilton police to charge a man with trying to steal a number of cars.
Detective Sergeant Mark James, of the Hamilton police, said that last week the Hamilton man, 20, was alleged to have gone to a vehicle repair shop in Riley Street where he broke into a number of vehicles.
He said the man had been charged with attempting to steal nine cars after smashing their windows.
“He sliced his leg open and cut a tendon. He presented at the Hamilton hospital that night. He was pretty badly hurt,” the detective said.
