The motion called on Premier Baillieu to guarantee that he will not make further cuts to education and skills in Victoria.
However, each and every member of the Coalition in the Victorian Legislative Council voted against the motion, indicating that there will be more cuts to education in Victoria by the Baillieu government.
In its first two years, the Baillieu government has ripped $555 million out of our education system and Mr Baillieu isn’t finished yet.
When questioned on the enormous cuts to education, the Minister for Education Martin Dixon said: “We are putting money into the programs that matter and into the students that matter.”
The Labor opposition believes that EVERY student matters. Every student deserves the right to quality education to give them the best possible start in life.
The Baillieu government’s education cuts are jeopardising our children’s future.
