Hamilton Holden dealer goes under

HAMILTON’S Grangeburn Holden and Mitsubishi dealership has gone into liquidation.

The dealership has a long history in Hamilton and a prominent site on Gray Street in the city’s central business district, employing more than 20 people.

Operator of the dealership, Andrew Rau, declined to comment yesterday.

Southern Grampians mayor Albert Calvano said the announcement that the business had gone into liquidation was a shock to Hamilton.

Cr Calvano said Mr Rau had been very active in the Hamilton community and had worked with the shire on many Hamilton promotional campaigns.

He said the council would do what it could to help employees affected by the company’s closure and had contacted local employment agencies.

A spokeswoman for GM Holden said: “Holden is keen to maintain a dealer presence in Hamilton and we’ll be exploring options in the future for a new Holden dealer in Hamilton.”
