Mass auction has 50-50 strike rate

A BULK auction list of 12 properties had mixed results this week with six being passed in and four sold prior to the day.

Two sold under the hammer at the Wednesday night auction conducted by Ray White Real Estate at Warrnambool’s Lady Bay resort.

Agency spokesman Jess Densley said the clearance rate was pleasing in a challenging market.

“There were at least 100 people at the event,” he said.

“It is the third year we have been conducting mass auctions and we are keen to keep the momentum with another on March 6.”

One of the crowd-pullers was a historic four-bedroom house by the Hopkins River at Allansford built in the early 1850s as a hotel.

The Ziegler Parade property was passed in, but sold afterwards on the night for $655,000 which Mr Densley described as “a very good result”.

A three-bedroom house at McKenzies Road, Bushfield, sold at auction for $585,000 with three bidders in the hunt. At the lower-end of the scale a two-bedroom house in Kelp Street sold under the hammer for $200,000 after a single bid.

A four-bedroom house at Lowery Road, Crossley, was passed in after a $445,000 bid, a three-bedroom house on Barkly Street, Warrnambool, was passed in at  $265,000, a three-bedroom house on Belmore Road was passed in at $280,000, a four-bedroom house on Turner Driver was passed in with no bid and a three-bedroom house on Hickford Parade passed in at $300,000.

A unit on Yewya Street, Warrnambool, and houses on Rooneys Road,  Price Place and Cramer Street were sold prior to auction.
