A man who made a mess in police cells after being arrested for being drunk has been placed on a community corrections order.
Rodney Arthur, 34, previously of Fairy Street in Warrnambool and now of Colac, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to being drunk, possessing a dangerous article, acting in an indecent manner and acting in a disruptive manner in jail.
He was convicted, placed on a 12-month community corrections order, has to do 50 hours’ community work and undertake assessment, treatment and rehabilitation as requested. The court was told that on December 29 last year Arthur and a female friend were outside the Hotel Warrnambool when security staff called police for assistance.
Arthur was uncooperative and police called for back-up to help remove Arthur from their van to the cells.
He had kicked out while in the van and continued to be uncooperative when removed at the police station.
A pair of scissors were found when he was searched before being lodged in the cells, after which he twice defecated and smeared the excrement around.
The court heard Arthur had previously experienced mental health issues.
