AFL legend Kevin Sheedy is coming to Warrnambool.
The former Essendon premiership coach and now Greater Western Sydney coach will be in Warrnambool next month as part of a charity fund-raiser organised by East Warrnambool Football Netball Club.
President Richard Jaynes said Sheedy would headline a fund-raiser for the Leila Rose Foundation at Warrnambool's Lady Bay Resort on February 8.
He said Sheedy would be the guest speaker, having been secured under a relationship with the Bombers' naming rights sponsor Ryco.
Jaynes said the AFL Hall of Fame member would visit Warrnambool Base Hospital, spend time with East Warrnambool's juniors at Reid Oval and then attend the sportsmen's night, which will also include an auction to raise money for the Leila Rose Foundation. The foundation helps children with rare cancers.
Jaynes said the Bombers were excited Sheedy had accepted the offer to come to Warrnambool.
Sheedy was a popular figure in the region when he was leader of the AFL Bombers, which have a big and passionate south-west supporter base. He was also the ambassador for Warrnambool's famous May Racing Carnival in 2008.
