Passengers flee as car catches fire

A CAR engine burst into flames yesterday evening forcing two adults and a small child to flee their vehicle on Raglan Parade.

The group was travelling in the car just after 6pm yesterday when smoke began to seep out of the air vents.

Warrnambool Country Fire Authority station officer Gary Mynes said the engine was ablaze when firefighters and police arrived on scene.

“It was burning quite well in the engine when we arrived,” Mr Mynes said.

All three escaped unharmed while police closed a single lane around the scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
