TERANG couple John and Glenda Carlin have found their perfect summer holiday spot, and it’s only 40 minutes down the road.
The family has been making an annual January pilgrimage to Peterborough’s Great Ocean Road Tourist Park for the past 40 years. Mr Carlin said he couldn’t think of a better place to spend a few weeks in the sun.
“It’s a great place to come with the family, it’s safe and they can have a great time,” he said.
“We have nine children and 20 grandchildren, and they all love coming here as well. This year four of our sons and their families are here with us.”
Mr Carlin said the family normally headed down for three weeks just after the Christmas/New Year period.
“It’s great, it’s a holiday but we are still close to home. A lot of other people from Terang come down to Peterborough as well.”
Mr Carlin said they couldn’t see any reason to change their holiday routine.
“It’s a great spot. I like to do a bit of fishing and like to play golf, there is a good little course here and some great fishing spots, so it’s perfect,” he said.
It also provided an opportunity for his grandchildren to catch up with other members of the family.
“It’s their meeting spot and they look forward to coming each year to catch up with their cousins. The best thing is they can head off on their bikes and be safe. I was up the street earlier and saw my granddaughter riding her bike with two other kids I’d never seen before, it’s great they can meet new friends and head off and be safe.”
