The hotel, occupying prime Moyne River frontage, offers buyers a unique sea-change.
Stockdale and Leggo Port Fairy owner Michael Hearn said the property market would speak on the day to determine the price, but it was expected to fetch between $2.5 and $3 million.
“It is a property of unique characteristics,” he said. “It is a solidly run business and one of the most unique in Port Fairy.”
Currently operating as a boutique accommodation business, the two-storey building was converted from a private home to a hotel 12 years ago. Set on about 996-square-metres of tightly held land, the property boasts more than 700-square-metres of living and entertainment space, including seven king-size bedrooms, all with accompanying en suites.
The property has a rich history in the seaside town.
“Originally it was the old iceworks,” Mr Hearn said.
“Then the front was a fish retail outlet, combined with the iceworks.”
The auction will give everyone the opportunity to compete for the property Mr Hearn said.
The hotel includes a drawing room, a separate dining room to seat 20, a 1400-bottle wine cellar, a timber-lined library and chef’s kitchen. The auction will be held on site Saturday, February 9 at 1pm.
