Business partner Brett Healey, who has worked in the business for 29 years, cracked the unusual egg last Saturday during the midday lunch rush and did not realise how significant it was until a few days later.
“I didn’t realise how important it was, I just told them to take a picture and put it on a burger and kept on going. It was Saturday lunchtime and pretty flat-out,” Mr Healey said.
After searching online Mr Healey found that the chance of finding a quadruple-yolk egg was an incredible 11 billion to one.
An unknown customer walked out with it on their burger.
“I reckon that I’ve cracked between three and four million eggs in my time and I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said.
“My previous best was five consecutive double- yolk eggs, but obviously they weren’t one-in-11 billion odds.”
Mr Healey is unsure of who supplied the egg — having gone through about 25 boxes of eggs since Christmas — only that it was from one of two suppliers in Terang.
“A few people have told me to buy a lottery ticket, but that’s only one in 40 million or something. Anyone can do that,” Mr Healey joked.
